The freefall without the aircraft — coached flights in a 10m wind chamber. A small-group experience in Abu Dhabi, run to a standard we would put our own name on — because we do.
Allow about 3 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.
The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our CLYMB Abu Dhabi, working under their own permits and insurance, with a Aura Avenue driver-guide looking after you door to door.
Every operator we subcontract holds the permits, insurance and safety record we would demand of ourselves — checked before we put our name near them. You get the adrenaline; the paperwork was our job.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Pickup and the run to Yas
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel; the drive to Yas Island typically takes 30 to 45 minutes from most of Abu Dhabi. No aircraft, no altitude, no weather worries — this one flies in any season.
Check-in and flight school
You sign in with the partner operator and sit a short training class. It covers the four hand signals, the body position — hips forward, chin up, relax — and what your instructor will do in the chamber. Pay attention to the signals; you cannot hear a word in there.
Kitted out
Flight suit over your clothes, then helmet, goggles and earplugs. Everything comes out of your pockets — everything. Lace-up trainers stay on; loose shoes do not.
First flight
You lean into the doorway and the airflow takes your weight. Your instructor keeps hands on you throughout, adjusting your position while you find the balance point. Each flight lasts around a minute — as long as, or longer than, the freefall on a real skydive.
Second flight and the high spiral
On your next flight you fly with more control and less panic. If you take the instructor-assisted high flight, you spiral together up the chamber and back down — most people's favourite sixty seconds of the day. It is the closest thing to actual flying on offer at ground level.
Photos and home
Debrief, media, and back to the Carnival. Door to door you are typically done within three hours, which leaves the rest of the day intact. Expect to talk about the spiral at dinner.
Insider tips
- Learn the four hand signals properly in training. The chamber is deafening, and the instructor's signals are the only conversation you will have.
- Chin up is the whole game. Look at your instructor, not at the floor, and your body sorts itself out.
- Take the high flight option. The spiral to the top of the chamber is the moment everyone remembers.
- Tie back long hair and double-check your pockets — anything loose becomes airborne at freefall wind speeds.
- Book a morning slot and pair it with lunch at Yas Marina; your driver-guide will happily make the detour.
Questions, answered
How close is it to real skydiving?
The body position and airflow are the same as freefall — that is why actual skydivers train in wind tunnels. What you skip is the aircraft, the door and the parachute. Each flight gives you around a minute of freefall time, which is more than most real jumps.
Can children fly?
Yes, indoor skydiving is one of the most child-friendly adventures in the city, and young children commonly fly. The partner operator sets the minimum age and we confirm it at booking. Instructors are very good with nervous small flyers.
Are there weight or health restrictions?
There is an upper weight limit, and the operator restricts flying for pregnancy and for previous shoulder, neck or back injuries — a dislocated shoulder is the classic one. Tell us your situation when booking and we will confirm before you commit.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and lace-up trainers — the trainers are non-negotiable. The flight suit goes over the top, so dress light underneath. Empty your pockets completely and remove jewellery; the chamber keeps what it shakes loose.
Will I be thrown around?
No. The wind speed is tuned to your body weight and your instructor has hands on you for the entire flight. Wobbling is normal; being flung about is not how it works.
Are photos and video available?
The chamber is typically filmed and photographed, and media packages are available on the day. Ask us to arrange it in advance if it matters to you. The high-flight footage is the one worth having.
