Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel and delivers you to the jetty where the partner operator's seaplane waits on the water. Arriving by marina rather than terminal sets the tone. This is flying from a gentler era.
10:00 · Check-in on the jetty
IDs checked, weights confirmed for balance, a short safety briefing from the crew. The aircraft is small enough that boarding takes moments. Every seat sits close to a window, which solves the usual argument.
10:30 · The water take-off
The part nobody forgets. Spray past the windows, a long surge across the surface, and then the hulls unstick and the sea drops away. It is over in seconds and you will describe it for years.

From low altitude the coast turns into a map — mangrove channels, sandbars, the city rising off the water. Seaplanes fly lower than most tours, so the detail is the point. Your pilot points things out as the route unfolds.

- Fly in the morning. The air is smoother, the water calmer, and the low sun puts texture into the mangroves and sandbars below.
- Film the take-off, photograph the rest. The surge off the water is the highlight and video is the only format that does it justice.
- Take sunglasses off for photos through the glass — polarised lenses can make the window look oil-slicked in shots.
- Ask the crew about the routing before boarding and pick your side accordingly. On an aircraft this size, a polite question usually works.
- Leave a buffer before any evening plans. Seaplanes run on sea state and daylight, and slots occasionally shuffle.

Is a water take-off safe?
Yes — seaplanes are certified aircraft flown by commercial pilots, and water operations are what they are built for. The partner operator runs the same safety briefings and checks as any charter flight. The only difference you will notice is the spray.
I get motion sick — will this be a problem?
Small aircraft move more than airliners, especially on warm afternoons when the air is bumpier. Morning flights are typically smoother, and taking your usual travel-sickness remedy beforehand works well. Be honest with yourself; the flight is short, which helps.
Can children fly?
Generally yes, accompanied by an adult — the low-and-slow flying suits kids well because there is always something to look at. Age and seating policies rest with the partner operator, so give us ages at booking and we will confirm.
What should I wear and bring?
Flat shoes for the jetty — no heels on a floating pontoon — plus sunglasses and sunscreen for the wait by the water. Bring ID for everyone flying. Large bags stay with your driver; the cabin has room for a phone and a camera, not luggage.
Will I get good photos through the windows?
Yes, if you hold the lens close to the glass to kill reflections. The aircraft flies low, so even phone cameras get real detail. Ask the crew which side the best landmarks will be on before you board — routing decides it.
What happens if the sea is rough or the weather turns?
Water take-offs need reasonable sea conditions, so wind can delay or cancel a flight at short notice. The pilot decides, and if the flight is off we rebook you or arrange a refund per the operator's policy. Mornings are usually the safest bet.
