The same freefall over an ocean of sand, at a friendlier price. A small-group experience in Dubai, run to a standard we would put our own name on — because we do.

Allow about 6 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.

The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our licensed skydive operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a Aura Avenue driver-guide looking after you door to door.

Every operator we subcontract holds the permits, insurance and safety record we would demand of ourselves — checked before we put our name near them. You get the adrenaline; the paperwork was our job.

Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop

  1. 06:30 · Pickup before the heat

Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel in the Kia Carnival while the roads are still quiet. Skydive slots typically run in the morning, when the air is calmest, so the early start is doing you a favour. Sleep on the way if you like — nerves rarely allow it.

  2. 08:00 · Check-in at the desert dropzone

At the partner operator's desk you sign the paperwork, step on the scales and confirm your slot. Your driver handles the logistics while you handle the forms. From here the dropzone team takes over the flying side of the day.

  3. 08:30 · Briefing and harness fitting

Your tandem instructor talks you through the exit, the arch position and the landing. The harness goes on snug — snugger than you expect. This is also when your camera options are confirmed, since your own phone stays on the ground.

  4. 09:15 · The climb to altitude

The aircraft spirals up over an ocean of red-gold sand, and the dunes flatten into a pattern you only ever see from up here. Around fifteen to twenty minutes of climbing gives you time to take it in. Then the door opens.

  5. 09:45 · Freefall

Around a minute of freefall, strapped to an instructor who has done this thousands of times. Then the canopy opens and the noise stops all at once. The last few minutes are a quiet glide over the desert with the best view in the Emirates.

  6. 10:30 · Feet on sand, footage in hand

You land back at the dropzone, hand back the kit and review your photos and video if you booked a media package. Most guests replay the exit clip three or four times. That is normal.

  7. 11:30 · The drive home

Your driver is waiting with cold water and the air conditioning already running. The whole experience typically runs around six hours door to door, so you are usually back at your hotel by early afternoon with the rest of the day free.

Insider tips

  • Take the earliest slot you can. Morning air is calmer, the light on the dunes is softer, and any weather delays have the whole day to resolve themselves.
  • Eat a light breakfast. Jumping on an empty stomach makes the nerves worse, and jumping on a heavy one is a decision you make exactly once.
  • Book the photo and video package when you book the jump, not at the desk. It is the one souvenir from this trip nobody ever regrets.
  • Keep the evening free of hard commitments. Skydiving runs on weather and manifests, and a slot can slide by an hour or two without warning.
  • If you wear glasses, say so at check-in — the operator has goggles that fit over most frames. Contact lenses are generally fine under goggles too.

Questions, answered

Do I need any experience to jump?

None at all. This is a tandem jump, so you are harnessed to a qualified instructor from the partner operator who manages the exit, the freefall and the landing. Your job is the arch position and the grin.

Are there age or weight limits?

Yes. Tandem jumps in the UAE are for adults only, so guests under 18 cannot jump, and the partner operator applies weight limits for safety. We confirm the current limits against your details when you book, so there are no surprises at the scales.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Skydiving is weather-dependent, and wind or poor visibility can delay or cancel a slot at short notice. If the partner operator cancels, we help you rebook for another day or arrange a refund per the operator's policy. Build a spare day into your trip if the jump is the one thing you cannot miss.

Can I bring my own camera or GoPro?

No — personal cameras and phones are not allowed on the jump, which is standard safety practice worldwide. The partner operator offers professional photo and video packages shot by people who film freefall for a living. Book the media package; you will want it.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and trainers that lace up securely — no sandals, heels or slip-ons. Avoid scarves, hoods and anything loose. The dropzone provides the jumpsuit, goggles and everything technical.

Can my family come and watch?

Usually yes — dropzones typically have a viewing area where spectators can watch the landings. Our Carnival seats the whole group comfortably, so non-jumpers can ride along, watch you land and hear about it for the rest of the holiday. We confirm spectator arrangements when you book.
