The world's longest zipline plus the mountain day around it, transfers included. A small-group experience in Ras Al Khaimah, run to a standard we would put our own name on — because we do.

Allow about 10 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.

The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our Jais adventure operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a Aura Avenue driver-guide looking after you door to door.

Every operator we subcontract holds the permits, insurance and safety record we would demand of ourselves — checked before we put our name near them. You get the adrenaline; the paperwork was our job.

Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop

  1. 07:00 · Pickup — this one is a road trip

Your driver-guide collects you early; Jebel Jais sits in Ras Al Khaimah, typically around three hours from Abu Dhabi and less from Dubai. The Carnival is built for exactly this. Coffee, playlist, go.

  2. 10:00 · The climb up Jebel Jais

The last stretch is the famous mountain road — switchbacks stacked up the UAE's highest mountain, with the temperature dropping as you climb. It is the best driving road in the country and your driver knows every hairpin. Stay awake for this bit.

  3. 10:45 · Check-in, weigh-in, harness

The partner operator's crew fit your full-body harness and run the safety briefing. You fly head-first, superman-style, so the rigging takes a few minutes to get right. Pockets are emptied, cameras secured or surrendered — their rules, good rules.

  4. 11:30 · The flight

The world's longest zipline: almost three kilometres of cable off the mountainside, at speeds you would get fined for on the motorway. You land on a suspended platform partway down, then a second, shorter line carries you to the finish. The whole thing lasts minutes and rewires your afternoon.

  5. 13:00 · Lunch on the mountain

There is typically time for lunch at a mountainside restaurant near the viewing decks — own expense unless your booking says otherwise. Eating at altitude with the Hajar range laid out below is not a bad way to let the adrenaline settle.

  6. 14:00 · The viewing decks

Before the descent, a wander along the viewing platforms for the photos you were too busy flying to take. The light up here is different — thinner, sharper. Then it is back down the switchbacks.

  7. 15:00 · The long roll home

You are typically back at your hotel by early evening. Around ten hours door to door, most of it scenery, a few minutes of it airborne — and those few minutes are the ones you will lead with at dinner.

Insider tips

  • Pack a proper layer even in warm months. The summit routinely runs ten degrees cooler than the coast, and wind chill on the platform is real.
  • Take the morning slot. Wind builds through the afternoon, and morning cancellations have the whole day to recover.
  • Empty your pockets into the car before check-in, not at the platform. Keys, coins and sunglasses without straps all stay behind anyway.
  • Mobile signal on the mountain is patchy — download your music and sort any bookings before you leave the coast.
  • Do not sleep through the final thirty minutes of the drive. The Jebel Jais switchbacks are half the ticket.

Questions, answered

Are there weight, height or age restrictions?

Yes — the partner operator applies a weight window and minimum age for the zipline, checked at their scales on the day. We confirm the current limits against your group when you book so nobody drives three hours to be turned away. If someone in your party cannot fly, the mountain day is still worth their seat.

I'm nervous about heights — can I actually do this?

Most people are nervous, and most people do it. You are clipped into a full-body harness the entire time and the crew handle everything; your only task is to not fight the view. The commitment moment is short — after the first three seconds it becomes flying rather than falling.

What should I wear?

Closed shoes are required — trainers or trail shoes, firmly laced. Wear fitted clothes, tie back long hair, and bring a warm layer: the summit is typically ten degrees or more cooler than the coast, and genuinely cold in winter. Sunglasses need a strap or they stay behind.

Can I take my phone or GoPro on the line?

Loose items are not allowed on the zipline — at that speed a dropped phone is a projectile. The partner operator has camera options and secure-mount rules that they confirm at check-in. Your driver keeps everything else safe in the car.

What if it is too windy?

The zipline is weather-dependent and high winds can pause or cancel operations, sometimes at short notice. If the operator cancels, we help you rebook or arrange a refund per their policy. Morning slots tend to see calmer air, which is partly why we start early.

How long is the actual zipline compared to the day?

Honestly: the flying takes minutes, the day takes around ten hours. But the day is the point — the mountain road, the summit air, lunch above the clouds' usual altitude. Guests who treat it as a mountain day with a zipline in the middle rate it highest.
