A morning pick-up and the drive inland towards Al Ain, watching the landscape rearrange itself from coast to dune to rock. Green Mubazzarah sits at the foot of Jebel Hafeet, about two hours from Abu Dhabi. The name means what it promises: actual green.
10:00 · Meadows at the foot of the mountain
Grass lawns, palm clusters and warm streams running through a public park with a bare rock mountain as the backdrop — the Emirates at their least expected. Local families have picnicked here for generations, which tells you it is the real thing. Time to walk, sit and recalibrate.
10:45 · The hot springs
The park is fed by natural hot springs, with warm mineral water running through channels where you can sit and soak your feet. There are also dedicated soaking pools; where you use them, modest swimwear is the local convention. It is oddly persuasive — most sceptics stay in longer than planned.
12:30 · Picnic or kiosk lunch, around midday
Lunch is deliberately low-key: a picnic on the grass if we have planned one, or the park's simple kiosks and nearby options in Al Ain. Barbecue areas dot the park and are heavily used at weekends. This is a day for unhurried, not gourmet.

Jebel Hafeet's celebrated summit road starts practically at the park gate, so most guests add the climb — hairpins, viewpoints and the dunes rolling to the horizon from around 1,240 metres. It costs about an hour and repays it in photographs. Entirely skippable if the hot water has won.
15:30 · Home via the dunes
The drive back to Abu Dhabi with the light going long over the sand. Door to door around the eight-hour mark, loosely held. You will smell faintly of minerals and feel better than the itinerary suggested.

Insider tips

Go midweek if you possibly can — the same park is two different experiences on a Tuesday and a Friday.
Pick up picnic supplies in Al Ain rather than relying on the park kiosks; the choice is better and the grass deserves it.
Soak feet first, walk second — the warm water is more pleasant before the midday sun than after it.
Say yes to the summit add-on; you are already at the foot of one of the world's great mountain roads, and regret is heavier than an hour.
In winter, aim to be coming down the mountain in late afternoon — the light over the dunes on the descent is the day's best photograph.

Can we actually bathe in the hot springs?

You can soak your feet freely in the warm channels through the park, and there are dedicated soaking pools for a fuller dip. Where you swim, modest swimwear is the sensible local convention — board shorts and a t-shirt style rather than beachwear. Bring a towel and sandals; the ground is hot in every sense.

When is the park at its best?

November to March, when the grass is greenest, the air is cool and sitting in warm spring water makes perfect sense. Summer visits work with an early start and a shade-first plan, but the middle of the day is fierce. Weekday mornings are the quiet sweet spot year-round.

Is this a good day out with children?

One of the best — lawns to run on, warm streams to paddle in and no queue for any of it. Child seats are fitted in the car on request. Independent local operators sometimes offer pony or camel rides in the park seasonally; treat those as a bonus, not a promise.

How crowded does it get?

Weekends and public holidays bring large numbers of local families, barbecues and a genuinely festive atmosphere — enjoyable, but not tranquil. Fridays through Sundays are the peak. If quiet is the point of your day, book midweek and morning.

What should we bring?

A towel, sandals, swimwear on the modest side, sun cream and a hat. A picnic upgrade is worth the small effort — tell us in advance and we will plan the stop for supplies. If you add the summit drive, throw in a light layer; the top runs cooler than the park.
