Allow about 2 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.

The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Check-in
Arrive at the desert base at your booked time, sign the waiver and meet the marshal running your group. The session is delivered by a permitted partner operator and lasts around 90 minutes gate to gate. Slots run through the day.
Helmet, briefing, throttle
Helmets and goggles are fitted, then the briefing: thumb throttle, brakes, body position, spacing and hand signals. The quads are automatic, so there are no gears to fight. If you can ride a bicycle and follow instructions, you are qualified.
The practice circuit
A few laps on flat ground to let you and the machine reach an understanding. The marshal checks everyone is comfortable before the group moves out. Nobody is rushed through this bit.
Open sand
The group rides out behind the marshal onto the open dunes, and the quad does what quads were built for. The route and pace are matched to the group's confidence. It is louder, dustier and better than the photos suggest.
The photo pause
A stop partway through for water and pictures with the machines against the sand. Around ten minutes, engines off. Then you ride the second half knowing exactly what you are doing.
Return and hand-back
Back to base, gear returned, forearms pleasantly tired from the throttle. Ninety minutes is the honest sweet spot: long enough to properly ride, short enough that the price stays at dinner-for-two territory. That was the deal.
Insider tips
- Wear gloves if you own any. Ninety minutes on a thumb throttle is a workout nobody warns you about.
- Tie long hair back before the helmet goes on, not after.
- A chest-mounted action camera beats holding a phone, which beats dropping a phone, which is the usual alternative.
- Drink water before the session, not just after. The desert dehydrates you quietly while the adrenaline distracts you.
- Late-afternoon slots end near golden hour, which is when the sand photographs best and the heat finally behaves.

Do I need a licence or any experience?
No road licence is typically required on private desert terrain, and no experience is needed. The quads are automatic and the briefing plus practice laps cover everything. Bring photo ID; any date-specific requirements are confirmed at booking.
What is the minimum age?
Riders are typically required to be 16 or over to drive a quad. Rules for younger guests vary with the operating partner, so ask at booking before promising anything to a 12-year-old.
Is safety gear provided?
Yes. Helmets and goggles are included, along with the marshal-led briefing, and the session runs with a permitted partner operator. Closed shoes are on you, literally.
Can two people share one quad?
Quads are typically single-rider machines and the price is per rider. Whether a passenger is permitted depends on the operating partner and the machine, so confirm at booking rather than assuming.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
A refundable damage deposit may be required by the operating partner at check-in, which is normal for self-drive sessions. The amount and how it is taken are confirmed at booking.
What should I wear?
Trainers or other closed shoes, long comfortable trousers, and clothes that can lose an argument with sand. A scarf or buff under the helmet keeps the dust out, and a layer helps on winter mornings.
