  • About 5 hours door to door
  • Departure timed to the light, not the clock

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before travel

The city brunch, relocated to a dune crest — long table, long views, no dress code. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.

One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 5 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.

Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop

  1. Around 10:00 · A civilised start

Pickup at a merciful mid-morning hour — no dawn heroics on this one. The Carnival takes you out of the city while the day is still finding its feet. Bring an appetite and very little else.

  2. Tarmac to sand

At the desert's edge, our permitted partner operator's 4x4 takes over for the last stretch up to the crest. It is a short, gentle run — this is a lunch appointment, not an expedition.

  3. The long table

A properly laid table on a dune crest, with shade overhead and a view that simply does not stop. It is the city brunch's format, relocated somewhere the city cannot follow. The first drink is poured before you have finished staring.

  4. Courses, unhurried

A long, generous spread that moves at conversation speed — Emirati flavours alongside familiar ones, with karak, juices and soft drinks doing the rounds. Five hours are set aside so nothing has to hurry, including you.

  5. The wander

Between courses, people drift — barefoot down the dune face, back up for dessert, out to the cushions with a coffee. There is no programme and no one checks the time. That is the entire design.

  6. Around 15:00 · Back to town

The 4x4 brings you off the sand and the Carnival takes you home — fed, slightly sandy, and quietly smug about where you just had lunch.

Insider tips

  • Book in the cooler months if you can — the same brunch with the temperature ten degrees kinder is a different afternoon entirely.
  • Arrive hungry. The spread is long, the pace is slow, and a hotel breakfast beforehand is a tactical error.
  • Sunglasses are non-negotiable; midday glare off pale sand is stronger than it looks in photographs.
  • Midday light flattens the dunes, so photograph the table and the people early and save the landscape shots for the final hour, when the shadows come back.
  • Wear light colours — they stay cooler, and against the sand they photograph far better than black.

Questions, answered

Is alcohol served at the brunch?

No — in the UAE alcohol is served only at licensed venues, and a dune crest is not one. The drinks list runs to juices, soft drinks, karak and coffee. If you want to carry the afternoon on somewhere licensed in the city, we are happy to drop you there instead of the hotel.

Is there really no dress code?

Really. Wear what you would wear to a beach lunch — comfortable, light, and nothing you would mourn if it met some sand. Barefoot at the table is not just tolerated, it is the local advantage.

How do you manage the heat at midday?

Shade over the table, cold drinks in constant motion, and a season that does most of the work — this experience is at its best from autumn to spring, when midday in the desert is pleasant rather than punishing. In warmer months we will be honest with you about conditions before you book.

Can children come?

Yes — the format suits families well, since the dune provides entertainment between courses and nobody minds a child leaving the table. The 4x4 transfer requires appropriate seating for little ones, so tell us ages at booking and we will arrange it.

Can you handle dietary requirements?

Yes — vegetarian, and most allergies and restrictions, are straightforward with notice. Tell us when you book rather than on the day, and the spread will be shaped around your table.

Doesn't sand get in the food?

Less than you would think, and we will not pretend it is zero — this is the desert, and it attends every event held in it. Shade, covers and attentive service keep it to a rounding error. Consider the odd grain the table fee for the view.
