The Grand Mosque morning and the dunes at sunset in one private Carnival day — the whole UAE in twelve hours. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.
One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 12 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Your Carnival, your morning
Your driver arrives at your hotel in the Kia Carnival at a time agreed with you, typically morning. This is a private day, so the clock belongs to you rather than to a pickup loop. Twelve hours of the UAE start now.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
First stop while the marble is cool and the crowds are thin. Dress code applies: shoulders and knees covered, loose clothing and a headscarf for women. Take your time; there is no group tapping its watch behind you.
The city circuit
The Corniche, the palace photo stops and whichever corners of the capital you fancy, taken at your pace with a lunch stop wherever suits. The route flexes because there is no one else in the car to outvote you. Your driver knows the angles and the shortcuts.
The midday reset
Private means options: drop back to the hotel for a swim and a rest, or keep touring. In summer the pool break is not indulgence, it is strategy. The Carnival waits either way.
The desert handover
Late afternoon, the Carnival delivers you to the desert's edge, where you switch into a 4x4 for the dune drive, delivered by licensed drivers with permitted partner operators. Tyres are deflated, seatbelts are fastened, and the day changes gear entirely. The dune drive can be softened or skipped if you prefer.
Sunset and the camp
Sunset from a high dune, then the camp: camel rides, sandboarding, Arabic coffee and a BBQ dinner under the lamps. After a morning of marble, the sand makes its counter-argument. Most guests call it a draw.
The quiet drive home
The Carnival collects you from the desert and runs you back to your hotel, typically around twelve hours after the day began. Mosque, city, dunes and dinner, in one arc, with nobody else's schedule involved. That is the combo.
Insider tips
- Do the mosque first and early. Cool marble, soft light and thin crowds are the reward for not sleeping in.
- Pack a small bag with a full change of clothes; morning-formal and dune-casual are different sports.
- Take the midday hotel break in summer. The desert at sunset is glorious; the desert at 2pm is an oven with scenery.
- Keep your phone charging in the Carnival between stops so it survives until the sunset photographs, which are the ones that matter.
- Eat a light lunch if you are doing the full dune drive. Your stomach will thank you on the third descent.
Questions, answered
What does private actually mean here?
The Carnival, the driver and the itinerary are yours alone for the day, with no other guests and no pickup loop. Start time, pace and stops are agreed with you. The desert camp itself is a shared venue, and we say that plainly.
What is included?
Private Carnival transport with driver for around twelve hours, the mosque and city stops, the dune drive with a permitted partner operator, camp activities and the BBQ dinner. Lunch and attraction entry tickets are not included unless arranged at booking.
Can we change the route on the day?
Within reason, yes; that is the point of private. Swap a photo stop, linger at the mosque, add a pool break. The fixed anchors are the mosque's visiting hours at one end and sunset at the other, and your driver plans around both.
Is this suitable for children?
Very, with one caveat: the dune drive is not recommended for very young children, pregnant travellers, or anyone with back or neck problems. A gentler drive or a direct camp transfer can be arranged. Give us ages at booking and we will fit child seats.
Can we skip the dune bashing but keep the camp?
Yes. Plenty of guests transfer straight to camp for sunset, the activities and dinner. Just tell us at booking, or tell your driver on the day.
What should we wear for a day like this?
Mosque-compliant clothing in the morning: shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women. Bring a change for the desert, something casual you do not mind sanding lightly, plus a layer for after sunset. The Carnival doubles as a wardrobe.
