Guided quad runs on a private dune area, with transfers and full safety kit. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.
One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 4 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our permitted quad operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a Aura Avenue driver-guide looking after you door to door.
The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Pick-up · Town to sand
Hotel collection in our Kia Carnival, then around 45 minutes out to a private dune area run by our partner operator. Your driver-guide covers the format on the way. No experience is assumed at any point.
Kit up · Helmet, goggles, gloves
Safety kit is fitted and quads are matched to riders. The machines are automatic — throttle, brakes, handlebars, nothing to shift. Forms signed, and you are walked to the practice area.
The practice circuit · Walk before you run
Everyone does laps of a flat circuit first — starting, stopping, figure-of-eights. The guide watches until each rider is steady. Nobody goes into the dunes before they are ready, which is precisely why it stays fun.
Into the dunes · Guided runs
The group follows the guide in a line, starting on gentle slopes and building to bigger dunes as confidence grows. The guide's tyre tracks are your map — sand that looks smooth can hide a drop. Expect a solid hour of riding.
The break · Water and the view
A stop on high ground for water, photos and a breather. It is also the moment to ask for more pace or less — both are honoured. Then a final run back.
Return · Sand everywhere, grin included
Kit handed back, hands washed, and the Carnival returns you to your hotel. The whole outing takes around three and a half hours door to door.
Insider tips
- Stand slightly on the footpegs over bumps and let your legs do the suspension's overtime.
- Steer with your whole body — quads do not lean like motorbikes, and turning the bars alone is how beginners fight the sand.
- Take the morning slot: firmer sand after the cool night makes the riding easier and the light is far kinder.
- Stay on the guide's line. Untouched sand looks inviting and occasionally hides a slip-face drop.
- Goggles over sunglasses, not both — stacked lenses fog within minutes.
Questions, answered
I have never ridden a quad. Is that a problem?
No — most guests are first-timers. The quads are automatic and the practice circuit continues until the guide is happy with everyone. If you can ride a bicycle you will manage.
Is there a minimum age?
Our partner operator sets minimum ages, and younger teens can sometimes ride smaller machines under close supervision. Tell us ages at booking and we will confirm what applies. Under-age children can wait at the base with a guardian rather than ride.
Can two people share one quad?
Quads are ridden solo as a rule — they are not built for passengers on the dunes. If someone in your group prefers not to ride, tell us at booking and we will arrange for them to sit the session out comfortably.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, trousers and a long-sleeved top. Helmets, goggles and gloves are provided. Anything loose — scarves excepted — is better left in the car.
Can I bring a camera or GoPro?
A mounted action camera is fine; filming hand-held while riding is not, for obvious reasons. Your guide will happily shoot photos of you at the stops. Phones stay zipped away while moving.
What about summer?
The tour runs year-round, but in the hot months we only recommend the early-morning and late-afternoon slots. Riding is physical enough that midday summer heat spoils it. We will tell you plainly if a time you want is a bad idea.
